Terms of service

Last updated 11 July 2026. This is the agreement between your church ("the Church", "you") and muhubiri ("we", "us") for use of the muhubiri platform. By creating a church account you accept these terms on behalf of your organisation.

1. The service

muhubiri is church media and management software: you upload sermons and other media, we host them, subtitle and voice-dub them into the languages your congregation and diaspora speak — including, where supported, in the preacher's own cloned voice — and deliver the finished media to your church page and connected channels (WhatsApp, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook). We also offer add-on services fulfilled by our staff (social channel setup, custom websites, logo design) and, where enabled, in-app giving.

The service is provided on a month-to-month basis. There is no long-term contract; you may stop using it at any time, subject to any credits or hosting obligations already incurred.

2. Credits policy

Every dubbing job, storage tier and add-on service is paid for out of a single prepaid credit wallet. Credits are purchased in packs (Mustard, Kanisa, Jumuiya, Mtandao) or by top-up, and larger packs include volume bonus credits at the point of purchase — the bonus percentage is shown before you buy, never applied after the fact.

The exact credit cost of a job is always shown to you beforeyou confirm it — in the dubbing wizard, before an add-on order, before any charge. Credits are then spent ("captured") only once the corresponding job actually runs.

Purchased credits remain valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. Credits are non-refundable once spent, with one exception: if a delivered dub or other paid job is adjudicated defective — for example through the human-validator second-review process, or at our discretion on a clear service failure — the credits spent on that job are credited back to your wallet. Refunds of unspent purchased credits back to cash are not offered; unspent credits carry forward and can be used on any future job within their validity window.

3. Content rights and indemnification

Every time the Church (or anyone acting under its account) uploads audio, video, text or any other content to muhubiri, the Church affirms — on that upload, as a condition of it proceeding — that it owns the content or holds all rights and authorisations necessary to upload it, translate it, dub it, publish it and distribute it through muhubiri and its connected channels.

The Church agrees to indemnify and hold muhubiri harmless against any third-party claim, loss, fine or legal cost arising from content the Church uploaded without the rights or authorisation it affirmed it had. We host and process content on the Church's instruction; we are not a publisher of it and do not independently verify rights before processing begins.

4. The theology gate and translation quality

Nothing muhubiri dubs or subtitles is published automatically. Every language passes through the Church's own theology gate: a reviewer the Church appoints must read and approve the translated text, line by line, before it is ever generated as audio or shown to a member. Publishing is the Church's decision, made inside Studio, every time.

Machine translation and machine voice generation are not perfect. We work hard to make both accurate and natural-sounding, and offer a paid human-validator tier precisely because nuance in Scripture and doctrine matters — but the Church, through its theology gate, is the final check before anything reaches a member's screen, and bears responsibility for what it chooses to publish.

5. Voice cloning

Where a language supports it, a preacher may enable "preacher's own voice" dubbing. This requires the speaker's own explicit, recorded consent, captured inside Studio before any voice is cloned. Consent is revocable at any time — revoking it stops future cloned output using that voice, though media already generated and published before revocation is not automatically taken down.

6. Hosting

Media hosting and, where purchased, website hosting are billed usage-based out of the same credit wallet, priced against our own underlying provider costs. Ordinary sermon libraries and church websites are covered comfortably at listed rates. Where a Church's usage is exceptional — far outside a normal church's traffic or storage pattern — we may re-price the affected hosting to reflect actual cost, with at least 30 days' written notice before any new rate applies.

7. Giving

Where a Church enables in-app giving, muhubiri takes 0% platform cuton tithes and offerings — every shilling given goes to the Church, less only the payment processor's own transaction fees (M-Pesa, mobile money or card fees charged by our payment partners, not by muhubiri).

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate an account for non-payment, fraudulent use of the credit system, uploading content the Church did not have rights to, or conduct that puts other churches or muhubiri at legal risk. A Church may close its account at any time; unspent credits within their validity window remain accessible for export or a final job until closure is complete.

9. Liability

muhubiri is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from these terms is limited to the credits purchased by the Church in the three months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or reputational damages.

10. Changes to the service and these terms

We may change these terms or the service itself — new pricing, new languages, new features, or the retirement of an old one. Where a change materially affects price or a right the Church already relies on, we will give at least 30 days' notice by email or in-app notice before it takes effect. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance of it.

11. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service that cannot be resolved informally will be referred to and finally resolved by arbitration seated in Nairobi, Kenya, conducted in English, with the arbitral award being final and binding on both parties.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms, a credit dispute, or a defective-work claim: write to hello@muhubiri.com. We keep an audit trail of every charge and every choice made in your account, so we can look into any dispute with the actual record, not just recollection.
